PDO Thread Lifts

As we age, our skin ages with us. Loose skin can create sagging that can be difficult to cover. A thread lift can provide facial rejuvenation without surgery. This nonsurgical thread insertion will help treat various areas, including brow line, jowls and jawline, cheeks, forehead, and under-eye area. A thread lift can reposition underlying tissues and smooth and soften facial skin. It produces immediate, natural and quality results, which is why our patients often ask for PDO thread treatment at our Nuance Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery clinic in Las Vegas.

Who is a Good Candidate for PDO Thread Lifts?

The benefits of cosmetic threading last longer for younger patients, for up to nine years or more compared to the one or two that older people may experience an effect for. This means you’re more likely to be a great candidate if you’re in your 40s or 50s, or if you want to combine PDO thread lifts with another procedure such as fillers or ultrasound therapy. Additionally, patients who want to avoid surgery and have realistic expectations about the results of thread lift are better suited to this intervention.

Treatment Areas

The cheek, eyes, neck, and jaw are the most popular treatment areas for a PDO thread facelift. You can request treatment on any area of your face and neck that concerns you and where the threads can have a benefit. It doesn’t matter if you’re having another type of intervention in the same area either.

How Does the PDO Thread Lift Work?

The PDO thread lift involves creating a support structure with barbed threads under the skin. These barbs hold onto tissue so they can be lifted and supported, and may be positioned to go in one direction or two; bi-directional threads cannot be moved once inserted. In both cases, the threads contour and support your skin, and are great for reducing the severity of sagging.

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a type of dissolvable fiber that lasts no longer than 18 months, although the PDO thread lift’s benefits can persist for years. The barbs and the general presence of a foreign body cause scar tissue to form around them, which lasts long after the threads themselves are broken down. There is also an increased thickness of the dermis, showing an improvement in collagen production thanks to the mechanical stress from the threads’ lifting effect. Younger patients have better collagen production and scar tissue formation processes, leading to the stronger clinical results.

What are the Benefits of a Thread Lift?

At our Las Vegas clinic, this nonsurgical thread treatment offers numerous additional benefits, including rejuvenation of skin and improvement of skin fine lines and texture.

  • Long-lasting results
  • Little risk of adverse reaction
  • Little to no downtime
  • Minimal to no scarring
  • No incision
  • Treatment of several areas of the face at once
  • Possibility of being repeated as necessary
  • Softening of sagging, folding, or hollowing in the mid-face
  • Softening of jowls along the jawline.

The thread lift procedure is not permanent, but the results are considered long-lasting. If a patient truly needs a facelift, it is important to note that thread lift may not give the same results as a surgical facelift. Side effects and risks are quite minimal; however, there might be swelling, bruising, or dimpling.

F.A.Q.

You should be able to return to the vast majority of your normal activities after two days, but you may have some swelling and bruising.
PDO thread treatment in Las Vegas can cost anywhere from $500 to several thousand. Your final bill depends on the treatment area, your doctor’s experience, and sometimes whether you add on other treatment.
After a PDO thread facelift, it’s best to avoid vigorously rubbing your face for the first week so you don’t accidentally dislodge the threads. Your doctor will likely also recommend avoiding saunas, steam rooms, sleeping on your side, smoking, drinking through a straw, and intensive exercise for a few weeks, too.
